The Screw-FIX Rain Cap Ø 100 is an essential accessory designed for use with MI-FLEX 316 and 904 flexible flue liners. Crafted to the highest standards, this rain cap ensures comprehensive rain protection at the top of your chimney stack. Building Regulations Document J stipulates that flexible flue liners must be fully enclosed inside a masonry chimney.
With this in mind, the Screw-FIX Rain Cap is perfect for chimneys built to these regulations, supporting appliances up to 600°C (T600 designation). It is suitable for wood (<20% moisture), smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances.This rain cap plays a critical role in preventing water, vermin, and birds from entering your flue system. Its design also aids in stopping excess water from passing through the system and causing potential damage to your appliance.
The cap must be used along with a top plate and clamp (the insert is not necessary). It’s important to ensure that your chimney structure, including pots and flaunching, are in good condition.Maintenance is straightforward; sweeping should be performed by a competent person, ideally a HETAS registered sweep, at least once a year. For solid fuel applications, it is recommended to sweep twice a year: both at the end and the start of the heating season.
