Introduction
The Rockwool Tube by National Flues is a market-leading insulation solution designed specifically for flue liners. If you are looking to enhance your chimney's performance, reduce condensation risks, and improve overall thermal efficiency, this product is for you. Constructed from non-combustible rock wool, this tube guarantees safety and reliability even in the harshest weather conditions.
Understanding the Product
The Rockwool Tube is engineered to be 1000mm long and 200mm in diameter, providing ample material for a solid, continuous insulation layer. This extensive length ensures comprehensive coverage along the flue liner, helping to maintain consistent temperatures and reduce heat loss. Its robust design means it withstands continuous operating temperatures of up to 500°C. This makes it particularly effective in protecting against the detrimental effects of condensation and thermal stress associated with exposed chimneys.
Key Features and Benefits
- Versatile Sizing: The tube's 200mm diameter is perfect for a range of chimney liners. It comes in three specific diameter options, including 140mm, 169mm, and 219mm, the latter being easily trimmed to fit a 175mm liner. This flexibility means that whether you have a standard or a custom configuration, the Rockwool Tube can be adapted to your needs.
- High-Temperature Resistance: With an operating capability of up to 500°C, the product ensures that even during peak operations, your insulation remains effective and safe.
- Fire Safety: Made from non-combustible rock wool, this product not only addresses insulation requirements but also significantly reduces the risks associated with fire hazards.
- Easy Installation: The design incorporates simple installation methods using Aluminium Tape. This ensures that each 1-metre section is securely joined, providing a continuous and effective insulation barrier against the elements.
Installation Process
Installing the Rockwool Tube is a straightforward process that requires basic tools and techniques. Follow these steps to ensure a secure installation:
1. Measure Accurately: Before installation, verify the dimensions of your chimney liner to determine the appropriate tube size. This is essential to ensure a snug fit and optimal insulation performance.
2. Align the Tube: Position the 1000mm tube along the length of the flue liner. Make sure the tube is straight and covers the entire required section.
3. Apply Aluminium Tape: Use a 50mm wide Aluminium Tape to secure the joints. The tape should be applied firmly at overlapping sections to prevent any gaps where air or moisture could infiltrate.
4. Final Inspection: Once the tape has been applied, inspect the installation to ensure that the insulation is smooth, continuous, and free from any loose segments.
It is important to note that the Rockwool Tube is not suitable for class 2 flexible liners such as gas or oil liners, so please ensure it is used in the correct application.
